The Forum is made up of 33 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean and is considered the most important stage for political dialogue and partnership in matters relating to the environment.

It is held prior to the UN Environmental Assembly (UNEA) to discuss what are considered to be regional priorities and also to prepare the position of, and the intended inputs of the LAC. The results following the Forum will then be presented to the UNEA with the expectation that the Body puts those results into action.
